Alexandra Bailey
Chair of the Board, Drop LWOP New England & The Foundation for Judicial Discretion
Alexandra Bailey is a two-time survivor of violent crime who believes in fostering a culture shift that rejects excessive punishments in favor of restorative approaches to public safety, rehabilitation, and accountability. She has dedicated her career to supporting survivors, impacted persons, and advocates working to challenge the nation’s life sentencing laws. Her priorities include supporting efforts to end life without parole, passing domestic violence survivor justice acts, capping maximum penalties, and promoting “second look” provisions. Bailey is the Chair of Drop LWOP New England, The Foundation for Judicial Discretion, and The Wolverton/Bailey Foundation. Previously, she served as the Senior Campaign Strategist for The Sentencing Project and National Organizing Specialist for the ACLU. She has used her organizing skills to win various campaigns, including voting rights for unhoused citizens, ending the use of 287g ICE agreements, the passage of the Illinois Equal Rights Amendment, and passing the Oklahoma Survivor Justice Act. Bailey is also a former elected Advisory Commissioner in Washington, D.C.’s Ward 2. She studied organizing and political change theory at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government under Marshall Ganz.
